Job Description
Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled 2D Cut-Out Rigger to join our animation team. In this role, you will be responsible for building flexible, animator-friendly character rigs using cut-out animation techniques. You’ll work closely with designers, animators, and technical leads to ensure characters and assets are fully prepared for smooth and efficient animation production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create clean, modular rigs for 2D characters, props, and vehicles using cut-out techniques.
- Implement deformers, pivot points, pegs, and bone systems to ensure efficient articulation and performance.
- Collaborate with the design team to prepare and break down artwork into rig-ready components.
- Ensure all rigs are animation-ready, following the studio’s standards and naming conventions.
- Troubleshoot and refine rigs based on feedback from the animation team.
- Optimize rig performance to balance **functionality and scene file efficiency.
- Maintain consistency across rigs in terms of control layout and usability.
- Provide technical support to animators during production.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a 2D Rigger in a cut-out animation pipeline.
- Proficiency in Toon Boom Harmony.
- Solid understanding of puppet-based animation principles.
- Strong knowledge of character anatomy, motion, and deformation.
- Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot rig-related issues quickly.
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must Be based in Nigeria
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
- Familiarity with animation workflows and production pipelines.
- Experience with scripting or automation in rigging environments (e.g., Node View scripting in Harmony).
- Knowledge of 2D effects rigging or particle systems.
